New Fine Chemicals Manufacturing Facility

In 2021, HPS expanded an ink manufacturing facility in the fine chemicals industry. The project involved pigment milling, High Speed Dispersion (HSD), dispersion holding vessels, ink mixing, and utilities. The following disciplines were involved in the Process Design: Process, EC&I, Piping & Layout and CSA EPCm contract. The project value was approximately £7Million.

Food & Beverage

9 MLA Whisky Distillery Expansion

In 2021, HPS doubled an existing sites production capacity from 4.5 MLA to 9 MLA. The project involved dry goods, mashing, distillation and utilities. HPS have taken the project from concept design to construction, including HAZOP & LOPA. A number of disciplines were involved in the Process Design, including: Process, EC&I and Piping & Layout - Detailed Design, Procurement and Construction. The project value was £27Million.

10 MLA Whisky Distillery Expansion 

In 2022, HPS produced a FEED study of an existing Scottish distillery expansion, increasing capacity from 5 MLA to 10MLA. The project involved dry goods, mashing, distillation and utilities. HPS have taken the project through FEED to Hazard Study 1 & HAZID. Various disciplines were involved in the Process Design, such as: Process, EC&I and Piping & Layout - Design. 

Sherry Wine Disgorging, Storage & Cask Filling 

in 2019, HPS began working on a Sherry Wine Disgorging, Storage and Cask Filling project. The project involved new storage tanks, distribution and fill facility. The project is now constructed and commissioned. The following disciplines were utilised for the Process Design aspect of the project: EC&I and Piping & Layout – FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement Support & Commissioning.

Spray Dryer Project

In 2020, an upgrade to an existing PSD-4 spray dryer commenced, enabling the spray dryer to be capable of processing organic solvents (including dichloromethane). The project involved adding a contained solids charging system for making up feed solutions/ suspensions, as well as a secondary dryer (of a suitable capacity to serve the spray dryer).  The process included an API Manufacture Overview consisting of solution make up & feed vessels, spray dryer, vacuum dryers, CIP, chillers, Temperature Control Units (TCUs). The scope covered Process Design, including the Process, EC&I, Piping & Layout and Validation teams. The project value was £14Million.

160L to 1000L Module Reactor Upgrade

In 2020, an upgrade to an existing facility took place to increase manufacturing capacity. The project revolved around a primary, pre-clinical API synthesis facility comprised of four modules. A 160L reactor was replaced with a larger 1000L unit along with the appropriate pumps, heat exchangers and utilities. The project consisted of adding a GLCS 1000L Reactor, a Tantalum Shell and Tube Condenser, a 316SS 22.5m³/hr mag drive Pump, a Carbon Steel 105kW Electric Heater, 4no. relief values and 1no. bursting disc.
